Writing You Will Absolutely Love.

Kia ora in Te Ngahere we have been writing a thank you letter to Wonder Project for helping us over eight weeks. The success criteria was to have correct layout, paragraphs and it has to be personalised.

The names of the people were Troy and Gustavo. We started in week two until week eight and we started with doing safety activities until we were ready to start building the rocket in week four. My group consisted of Mark S, Calais, Vaughan and myself.

My favourite part was launching the rocket and making changes to them.

In the end my group got one of furthest launches which was 66.6 meters away into the distance.

Have you done the Wonder Project?

Sharing My Knowledge On Mahi Toi

Kia ora in Te Ngahere we have been doing some Mahi Toi ( Art).

I had no idea what on earth we were doing until the teachers explained it so we knew what to do.

Before we started we had to practise the basic skills which were: Drawing straight lines, continuous lines, curved lines & using our elbow to move instead of using our wrist to move.

My favourite part so far is drawing over the pattern because it’s also the trickiest because the lines are quite faded.

Have you done calendar art before?

Well bye!!

Some Te Reo I Absolutely Love

Kia ora bloggers in Te Ngahere we have been doing some Te Reo Maori  to practise for our weather report.

I’m in a group with Mark S, it’s been fun because I was terrible at Te Reo but now I feel more confident in telling people the names of the weather in te reo.

It was  fun to learn all of the words in maori when we played Ika which is go fish in maori. If you got the picture you had to say what the word in maori was before you picked up the next card and if it was correct you had to say the word.

Are you good at Te Reo?

PE I’m Loving It!

Kia ora in Te Ngahere we have been practising PE drills for Ki-O-Rahi.

My favourite activity was when someone would be standing in the middle of two sticks and someone was behind them, then the one in front of the person would throw the ball to the person at the back, then they would throw it back to the person in front and once the person catches the ball they would run up and try to jump and hit the sticks between them before they block it.

I really enjoyed doing this activity because it was fun and quite easy to get the hang of the activity.

Have you done a similar activity?

Exploring Explanation Writing

Kia ora in Te Ngahere we are going to be doing some Explanation Writing.

If you don’t know what explanation writing is it’s when you are writing to explain about a topic. First you have to plan what you are going to write about.

We started planning about how pressure makes bottle rockets launch.

Before we get into that we need to explain what it sounds like.

title, identifying statement, explain sequence and summary statement.

In our planning we can’t keep putting down lots of ideas we have to keep it brief.

Have you ever done Explanation Writing?

Here's my plan so far

Finding Fractions

Kia ora in Te Ngahere we have been doing maths. I’m in group three at maths time, we have been finding equivalent fractions.

If you don’t know what equivalent fractions are they can be doubled and mean the same as another fraction.

For example: ½  is the same as 2/4

because they both are equal and they are the same as a half.

OR you can add the numbers up which will make it the same. Now do you understand?

I found equivalent fractions hard because I didn’t really understand equivalent fractions at first and now I understand what equivalent fractions are.

Here's Our D.L.O

Are you good at finding equivalent fractions.
